Growing up in East Trinidad, KASH draws his influences from a variety of musical genres, including hip-hop, reggae, dancehall, R&B and pop music. His influences include Michael Jackson, Jay Z, Tupac, Notorious B.I.G., Nas, Cam’ron, Kanye West, Buju Banton, Beenie Man, Bounty Killa, Sizzla, Sean Paul, Wu-Tang Clan, Barrington Levy, Dr. Dre, Eminem; and, as of late, the likes of Future, Drake, J. Cole, Wale, Rick Ross, Yung Thug and Migos.
Consequently, he acquired a great appreciation for hip-hop as a result of its thought provoking lyrical content and imagery. While KASH hailed from a different country, he was able to relate his island life to the pictures these artists were painting in their tracks.
In 2008, KASH moved to the U.S. to pursue a degree in Finance at Miami Dade College. After completing his degree, he attended DePaul University in Chicago for an advanced degree in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science.
After graduation, KASH worked as an equity options trader in Chicago for a New York based trading firm. After two years of trading stocks and options in Chicago, KASH felt his calling was elsewhere. He moved with his family and newborn daughter to Miami. Three months later, KASH realized that music was his calling, dating back to his earliest memories of his father playing Michael Jackson’s iconic “Thriller” album and him purchasing his very first album, Buju Banton’s “Inner Heights.”
KASH has been in the studio with acclaimed record producers GoGrizzly (Future, Currency and Kevin Gates) and Atlanta’s Ducko McFli (Drake, 2 Chainz, Migos, A$AP Rocky and YG) on his to finalize his debut EP, “The Takeover.”
